Pro Remember the Beast? With a 92-mm waist, it was ahead of its time when it debuted in 2002–03. No one bought it, and Nordica discontinued it last year, despite howls of protest from a growing fan base. But after a year off, Nordica returns to the fat-boy fray with a vengeance. The new Enforcer—twin-tipped, wood-cored, metal-reinforced and as stable and powerful a ride as you’ll find in this category—greatly impressed the testers, who gave it high marks across the board. Its long-radius tip (it turns up gradually) resists diving better than more abruptly curved tips, while its short-radius tail sinks and smears in a less-obtrusive way. As Rifkin put it (just before lunch): "Lively as a Mexican jumping bean, but sturdy as a six-pound burrito." Con Only in Forgiveness did it not put up a top-5 score.
