Pro The cute name still rubs some testers the wrong way. Like, if it had an i in it, would K2 dot it with a little heart? But never mind, because for making short work of deep powder, the Phat Luv is all power tool. Its Bioflex core reduces swing weight by employing lighter spruce wood near the tip and tail, but still has the heft and power of fir underfoot. And rather than simply moving the mounting point a centimeter forward and calling it a women’s ski, K2 invests in new molds that move the waist of the ski forward, putting the narrowest part where a woman needs it. The Phat Luv excels in both powder and crud, with a smooth manageability that belies its width. Bates called it a "friendly ski" that "makes powder and crud easy." Con Reluctant in short turns, even for a powder ski.
