The Valley of Saint-Sauveur encompasses five ski resorts in a big French cafe au lait cup: Mont Saint-Sauveur, Mont Avila, Ski Morin Heights, Mont Olympia and Ski Mont Gabriel. These five mountains collectively have 107 runs served by a total of 31 lifts and are linked by a free shuttlebus service. One lift ticket is good at all five areas. With 67 illuminated slopes and 3,000,000 watts of lighting, they comprise one of the largest night-skiing/snowboarding terrains in the world. When the sun goes down, every hill in the valley comes alive with a sparkling circular blanket of light. This is a true family destination. Each area has its own character and small base village, but they all share extensive snowmaking and proximity to the charming little 100-year-old Quebec village of Saint-Sauveur, about 45 minutes north of Montreal. More than 60 restaurants feature international cuisine for every budget. Packages are available at most lodging facilities, which range from four-star hotels to affordable condos and family-run B&Bs. Nearly 80 shops, fashion boutiques and warehouses satisfy the need to shop, and there are three supermarkets in the village for condo guests wanting to cook in. In the evening, rue Principale is the 'buzz' with bars, bistros, discos and live music.Mont Gabriel has 7 lifts; 18 trails; 80 acres; and 656 vertical feet.Ski Mont Gabriel is the only resort in the Valley to have a dedicated snowboarding mountainside with a terrain park and jumping site accessed by its own T-bar. The official site of the Canadian Freestyle Championships, this resort is also a great place to learn. The area between its two mountains (simply named Mountain 1 and Mountain 2) has a big green area for the first-timers and beginners. Mountain 2 is snowboarder's heaven, but there are also some blue runs down from the top. This is the warmest ski area of the five resorts.
