The perennial New England kick-off to winter, the Boston Globe SnowSports Expo is gearing up for its four-day run at the Bayside Expo Center on Nov. 17-20.  The Expo features the region's biggest ski and snowboard retail sale, staged by the Ski Market stores and some of the best deals of the year on lift tickets and winter vacations.  This year, it will feature a special salute to US Ski and Snowboard teams including appearances by Olympic athletes.

The Boston Globe SnowSports Expo opens on Thursday, Nov. 17, with show hours from 4-10 p.m. and runs on Friday, Nov. 18 from 4 - 10 p.m. Expo hours on Saturday, Nov. 19, are 10 a.m.-8 p.m., and on Sunday, Nov. 20, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Over 45,000 are expected to attend the four-day snowsports extravaganza.  Admission is $10, with children 12 and under free.  Discount coupons will be available via sponsoring media outlets and online at www.snowsportsexpo.com.

The Boston Globe SnowSports Expo is produced by BEWI Productions of Waltham, MA. Producer Bernie Weichsel has been staging wintersports expos around the country for more than 25 years.

This year's Expo will showcase Olympic glory past and present and serve as a colorful send-off to the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Teams as they prepare for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games.  The Winter Games will be held in the majestic alpine surroundings of Turin in northern Italy, Feb. 10-26, 2006.

BEWI Productions has announced that Olympic star and spokesperson Donna Weinbrecht will orchestrate the Olympic salute in Boston. Her gutsy performances on the mogul slopes around the world are unparalleled.  Weinbrecht's gold medals in the mogul events at the 1992 Olympics and 1991 World Championships capped a career that included 46 World Cup wins (the most of anyone ever), seven U.S. championship titles, and three World Championship silver medals.  Raised in New Jersey, this Jersey Girl with her signature blond tresses honed her skills on the legendary mogul slopes at Killington, VT.  Expo visitors can expect scheduled appearances by other Olympic stars to drum up even more excitement for the 2006 Games.

A top crowd-pleaser at this year's Expo will be Jumpin' Jack's Olympic Aerial Spectacular, featuring renowned U.S. and Canadian athletes.  They will don skis and snowboards, flying high above the crowd as they perform their dazzling, high-action acrobatics.  The inimitable Uncle E will serve as Expo emcee and lead showgoers to all the hour-by-hour special presentations, demos and giveaways.

The Boston Globe SnowSports Expo is a colorful collage of entertainment, information, exhibitions, and an exhibit hall full of special deals on everything from winter gear to winter vacations.  There will be interactive exhibits, special activities for children, an apres-ski saloon for breaks in the action and the latest winter sports videos.  For the kids, there will be a ski and snowboard Sno-Park and Learning Center, and for the high adrenaline athlete, the Action Sports Zone.
