After the area was granted a permit by the U.S. Forest Service to proceed with long-held plans to add a new lift, new trails and a restaurant on Peak 7, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Environmental Protection Agency stalled the process by demanding that the parent Vail Resorts submit a development plan for private lands it owns at the base. When the ski area put forth a conceptual layout for condominiums and commercial outlets, federal and local agencies balked and forced a delay in the process for further environmental analysis. For the same reasons, an expansion intended for Peak 8 also is on hold.
