Vienna, Austria March 27, 2002 (AP)--Hermann Maier's lawyer plans to seek more than $4 million in damages from the driver of the car that collided with the skiing star's motorcycle last summer.

Maier missed the Salt Lake City Olympics after breaking his leg and damaging nerves in the crash. He won two gold medals at the 1998 Nagano Games.

The court investigating the accident hasn't ruled on who was at fault, but Maier's lawyer, Karl-Heinz Klee, said that doesn't matter.

``The amount depends on whether he will be returning as a ski racer next season,'' Klee said.

Maier returned to ski training a few months ago, vowing to make a comeback.
