Mt. Baker, WA, Aug. 16--Once again Mt. Baker ski area reports that more snow fell on its slopes than any other ski area in North America. Although the 748 inches (62 feet) that Mt. Baker received didn't break last year's world record of 1,140 inches (95 feet) of snow the area still claims to be 115 inches above their 633-inch average annual amount.

Meteorologists believe the combination of La Nina and the Pacific Cost storms that blow in and cool over the 10,777-foot Mt. Baker volcano nine miles away cause the recent increase in annual snowfalls at Mt. Baker.

Snow is not the only thing to be on the rise at Mt. Baker. This past season saw a 15 percent increase in lift ticket sales and a 25 percent rise in season pass sales.
