TRUCKEE, CA - (News Release) - Those looking for an alternative to the popular resorts and beaches of Lake Tahoe should plan to make Northstar-at-Tahoe their holiday headquarters this Fourth of July, as Northstar Resort has an entire week of festivities planned for the entire family in an uncrowded setting, just six miles from Lake Tahoe.

Wente Wine Tasting
Guests can wet their palettes with Wente Wines as Northstar Resort officially welcomes Wente as the featured winery in Grapes and Grounds, the coffee and wine bar located inside True North. Join winemaker and cookbook author Carolyn Wente for wine tasting and an autograph signing from 3 p.m.- 5 p.m.
Enjoy Fourth of July two days early at Northstar Resort with a complimentary fireworks show blasting off above the new Village at Northstar at 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 2.
Independence Day Kids' Parade
Children are invited to display their most colorful creations by decorating their bikes, razors, big wheels, clothing, pets or themselves. A craft workshop will be held at Mine from 11 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. to help kids get ready for the show and the parade will begin in the Village at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 2.
Free Swing Dance Lessons
Grab a partner and head to the Village for some jumpin' and jivin' with free dance lessons and a DJ playing big band music from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Northstar Resort teams up with one of Truckee's finest restaurants, Moody's, to host a rare dining experience under the stars on Monday, July 3. Guests can titillate their tastebuds with a prix-fixe three-course menu while listening to the soothing sounds of the Tony Cataldo Quartet in the Village at Northstar from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Retro Skate Night
Lace up the skates and break out the polyester as Northstar Resort hosts a blast from the past on the only roller skating rink in Lake Tahoe. Guests can skate to '70s and '80s tunes from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4. Disco attire is highly encouraged. Skating is free with a $5 skate rental required.
From Thursday through Sunday, the Village will sound off with live music each afternoon featuring various artists such as Sol Jibe, Raw Nature, Darin Talbot, Jim Salestrom, Kathryn McKiernan and the Remmel Wilson Big Band Orchestra. Wander though the new Village at Northstar and take advantage of the resort's first Sidewalk Sale. From 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Friday, June 30 through Tuesday, July 4, guests will find great deals on gear and apparel marked up to 50% off. Demo mountain bikes and demo skis will also be sold. Third of July Lodging Package
For those guests who want to see the world-famous Lake Tahoe fireworks display, Northstar-at-Tahoe's lodging package is the ticket. Guests who reserve the Third of July lodging package save 10 percent on a variety of lodging units and receive VIP seating on the beach for the fireworks show at King's Beach, free transportation to and from King's Beach, all-you-can eat barbecue dinner, live music and a clown and games for the kids. The package begins at $193.10 per unit which allows guests to save up to $125. The package is only offered July 3, 2006.
