Pali Lift and Snow Plume Refuge Open at A-Basin

Arapahoe Basin, CO January 7, 2005 - A-Basin has received over eight feetof snow since the start of the season and it continues to fall. The mostrecent storm brought close to a foot of snow to the ski area. With theabundant snow, A-Basin has decided to open the Pallavicini lift on the westside of the mountain. Lift hours start at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sundayand 9:00 a.m. on weekdays. The lift closes at 3:30 p.m. daily.

There will be limited openings on the Pallavicini double black diamondterrain. On a regular basis the "Pali lift will serve the following openintermediate and advanced runs - Grizzly Road, Radical, Slalom Slope, WestWall and Powder Keg.

A-Basin is also excited to announce the grand opening of the new summitbuilding, the Snow Plume Refuge, which will be held this Saturday, January8. In late June of this year construction was started on the newdual-purpose building at the top of the Norway lift. The new facilityreplaces the old patrol headquarters that was built in the 1950s. The stonefrom the original building was saved and placed on the exterior of the newbuilding preserving the character of the structure as well as the area.

The Snow Plume Refuge accommodates the new patrol headquarters, a warmingroom for the public and the first on mountain restrooms in the ski area'shistory. In addition, a 1000 square foot deck, which faces south and east,provides spectacular views of the East Wall. A-Basin staff invites thepublic to tour the facility and enjoy the views.

A-Basin is currently seventy-five percent open with a 40 mid-way base. Allsix lifts operate on Saturdays and Sundays and five lifts are open onweekdays.

A-Basin boasts one of the longest ski seasons in North American. The skiarea opened on October 22 this season, the earliest opening on record.Tentative closing date is set for July 4, 2005 weather dependent.
