Squaw Valley USA - An impressive lineup of Grammy nominated artists and performances are scheduled for the 3rd Annual Lake Tahoe Smooth Jazz Festival taking place in Squaw Valley this Memorial Day Weekend May 27-29, 2005.
Presented by Art Good's JazzTrax, in conjunction with Squaw Valley USA, the Resort at Squaw Creek and The Village at Squaw Valley USA, The Lake Tahoe Jazz Festival features big-name jazz performances in two unique and beautiful locations in Squaw Valley. Internationally renown jazz artists scheduled to perform include Peabo Bryson, Lalah Hathaway, Kirk Whalum, Brian Culbertson, Paul Jackson Jr., Norman Brown, Brenda Russell, Everette Harp, Bobby Caldwell, Jeff Kashiwa, Kim Waters, Marion Meadows, Eric Darius and Rick Kelly.
The Festival kicks-off with two Friday evening shows from 'The Sax Pack,' starring Jeff Kashiwa, Kim Waters and Marion Meadows in the Resort at Squaw Creek's Alpine Ballroom. This indoor location features expansive views of the Squaw Valley meadow and towering mountain peaks as a backdrop. Saturday afternoon, jazz lovers can enjoy an outdoor concert with Bobby Caldwell and Rick Kelly on the Olympic House sundeck.
Located at the base of the Squaw Valley resort beneath the aerial Cable Car, it offers concert-goers dramatic views of the mountain peaks. During this show, Rick Kelly treats guests to a rare presentation of 'Soul Ballet' and his number one hit 'Cream'. Sunday afternoon at noon, also at Squaw's unique outdoor venue, is 'Norman Brown's Summer Storm' starring Norman Brown, Peabo Bryson, Brenda Russell, Everette Harp and Eric Darius. Highlighting this spring's festival are two Sunday evening performances of 'Forever for Always for Luther' in the Resort at Squaw Creek's Grand Sierra Ballroom. This show is the West Coast Premiere of the Grammy Nominated GRP Tribute to Luther Vandross starring Lalah Hathaway, Kirk Whalum, Brian Culbertson and Paul Jackson Jr.
