Winter Park, CO, Oct. 24, 2000--Winter Park Resort will host the second stop of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) Chevy Truck Super Series on Nov. 20 and 21. The Super Series is the U.S. portion of the Nor Am Cup, one of five race events held on five continents worldwide. This women's giant slalom event will feature many of the top downhill skiers from World Cup teams representing nearly twenty different countries. Athletes will be competing for $3,000 in prize money.
Racing action begins both days at 10:00 a.m. Each race counts toward Super Series scoring with the top finishers advancing to the Super Series finals scheduled in March. The course will be set on Hughes trail and can be viewed by spectators from the base of the slopes.
The Chevy Truck Super Series is known as one of the most prestigious and important alpine races in North America and is a key event for both top national athletes and developing U.S. and Canadian racers.
Winter Park Resort was selected as the host site by USSA for the ideal race course and their reputation for reliable early season snowfall. In addition, the resort's experienced full time race crew and events staff have a history of hosting a variety of competitive ski events including the U.S. National Alpine Championships in 1992, '93 and '94 and the U.S. National Freestyle Championships in 1993.
