PARK CITY, Utah Nov. 18, 2004 — Consider the typical test drive — you have about 15 minutes with a salesman by your side, then are asked to make a $35,000 buying decision. Deer Valley Lodging (www.deervalleylodging.com) in Utah thought there had to be a better way and, working with Chevrolet, is launching its 2004-05 Vacation Test Drive program. Starting opening day Dec. 4, the resort management company representing 600 vacation rental condominiums, hotel rooms, and private homes, will offer free use of a Chevy SUV — including one tank of gas — with a minimum three-night vacation rental.
The SUV’s include brand new 2005 Chevy Suburbans, Avalanches, Tahoes, and TrailBlazers (www.chevy.com). Through advance reservation only, cars are provided upon check-in and come fully loaded with 4WD, XM Satellite Radio, OnStar, heated seats, and backseat DVD’s — all the bells and whistles to make the most of a ski vacation where the world class wintersports resorts of Deer Valley, Park City, and The Canyons, are all within a 10-minute drive of one another.
To qualify for the Vacation Test Drive Program, guests age 21 and over with a valid driver’s license must stay for a minimum of three to five days and complete a vehicle evaluation form at the end of the vacation. The Chevy’s are delivered to the guests’ lodging facility, and then must be returned at the end of the stay.
Deer Valley Lodging exclusively represents over 600 available units in the Deer Valley Resort/Park City area, ranging from hotel rooms to one to four bedroom condominiums to private homes. The Vacation Test Drive Program is available with all unit rentals, no matter the size, in low season as well as high, pending availability (which will be confirmed at the time of the reservation).
The Vacation Test Drive program goes a long way towards driving down the cost of a ski vacation. Comparable rental charges for a Chevy Suburban at the Salt Lake Airport are $947 per week (including tax) in March.
A number of money-saving packages are offered. For example, free use of an SUV comes with a $287 per night per room three-day “Exceptional Value Ski Package that offers a deluxe hotel room, with daily breakfast and lift tickets for two adults (the lift tickets alone are valued at $72 each).
“While there are shuttle buses available to take you around, nothing beats the convenience of having exclusive use of a car on vacation, says Bobby Foster, Deer Valley Lodging director of marketing. “Our guests can come and go as they please, and Chevy, for its part, reaches a new audience of potential new SUV owners who gain more knowledge of the Chevy family of SUV’s than any around-the-block test drive could offer.
A similar warm weather Vacation Test Drive program is planned for the 2005 summer and fall season.
