Winter isn't finished with us yet. Just about every state in the West has been getting hammered by this latest storm. We got out to sample the goods at Monarch, Colorado today. With 6 inches reported and much more deposited by the wind it was a great day to be storm riding in Colorado. Make sure you get out this weekend somewhere and get some.
When the good people at Snowbird make a “resort improvement,” they don’t just glade an intermediate run or groom a black-diamond pitch. They open 500-acre Mineral Basin. They blast a ski tunnel through 600 feet of rock. And now they’ve opened up Zone 5, a new hairball section of 40-degree terrain off Mount Baldy.
It's still snowing in Colorado—Loveland Ski Area is reporting eight inches of new snow in the past 48 hours. And here's the best news: If your mountain is closed for the season, bring your season pass from any other mountain to Loveland and they'll give you a lift ticket for $30. Closing day at Loveland is May 2.
