Boulder, Colo. July 12, 2002–Barbecued salmon, bluegrass, and Frisbees will be in the air Sept. 6 at the CAIC Avalanche Jam at the American Mountaineering Center (AMC) in Golden, Colo.
This first annual fundraising party is to benefit the Colorado AvalancheInformation Center, which provides avalanche forecasting and education toColorado backcountry skiers, snowboarders and snowmobilers. The menu willinclude wild Kodiak Island Salmon, beer from New Belgium brewery andbluegrass music by the Ogallala String Band.
The event will take place from 5-10 p.m. on the south lawn and courtyard ofthe AMC and in adjacent Parfit Park. The cost of admission is $30 in advance and $35 at the gate (ages 12 and under are free). In case of rain, festivities will move into the AMC Conference Center. The fundraiser, emcee’d by Denver radiopersonality Biff America, will also include a silent auction and doorprizes. The party is organized by Boulder-based Backcountry Access, Inc.(BCA), a leading manufacturer and distributor of avalanche safety equipment.
