Mà–TLEY MICAH"I'd just gotten back from Europe and was getting ready to go into real-estate school," says big mountain freeskier and film star Micah Black. "All of a sudden I get this call, and they're like, 'Hey, get down here, ya knucklehead. Come to New Orleans.'" The callers were heavy-metal veterans Mötley Crüe (Black had met them in his prior travels). So the skier packed a bag and headed south, where he and the band chased alligators in swamp boats and generally engaged in rock-star debauchery. All told, the Crüe "kidnapped" Micah for four sold-out April shows in NASCAR country. His only responsibility: "Floating around the crowd to look for cute girls," says Black, who was always equipped with a fistful of backstage passes. "It was the best job of my life." September 2005

Skiing caught up with Skier Todd Ligare to talk about hiking lines, winter camping, and skiing spines. We also got some exclusive POV screen grabs to show you just how out of hand skiing in Alaska really gets.
