Cody Townsend Stars in XXX Film

“Ski-porn” takes on a new meaning in upcoming movie.

Pro skier Cody Townsend garnered global attention after his epic 2014 straightline of The Crack went viral. So last year he did what any ski bum with fresh fame, reasonably good looks, and previous film credits would do. He made a triple-X film with Hollywood meatwagon Vin Diesel.

The film is XXX: Return of Xander Cage, and yes, it is a sequel. In it, Diesel’s character (a sports star turned government agent) saves the world by skiing down snowless jungle mountainsides in a skintight tank top. Which is where Townsend—along with fellow skiers and stunt doubles Sandy Boville and L.J. Strenio—comes in. “We were sliding on dirt, palm fronds, and foliage,” Townsend explains. “Most of my scenes involved turns, cliff hucks, and chutes—ridden as if there was snow on the ground.”

The trailer had been viewed more than 100 million times as of this printing—and if we had to guess why, we’d say for the same reasons the YouTube Squatty Potty infomercial broke the Internet. That said, we’ll see the movie just to support the skiers, who took some hits for our entertainment. “There was a lot more blood, dirt in the face, and unexpected slams than on snow,” Townsend says. “Crashing in the jungle sucks.”
