Durango, CO Jan. 5, 2005 - Mother Nature continues to smile on southwest Colorado as Purgatory Mountain saw 17" of new snow in the last 24 hours, 29" for the storm, and forecasts are calling for further accumulations overnight. Purgatory is leading all Colorado ski areas for the storm total, and has the deepest base depth of the major resorts at 75 inches.
Snow began falling on Monday morning and quickly accelerated with as much as 3 inches falling per hour. This storm follows on the heels of another major dump last week---in the past seven days Purgatory Mountain has received 49" of new snow.
