A big storm hit California yesterday and it's been rolling east, dumping as much as a foot of snow in the mountains. Here's what the first storm of the season looks like.

Copper Mountain Sells to Powdr Corp

This just in: Intrawest—the company that owns Whistler Blackcomb, Winter Park, Steamboat, and other ski resorts—announced today that they're selling Copper Mountain to Powdr Corp, which also owns Park City Mountain Resort.

Jackson Hole Early Season Snow

Last night (the evening of September 9th, for those who are keeping score) Jackson Hole got an early season dusting of snow. They called it six inches, but it looks like a little more than that to us. It dumped enough that the locals took it upon themselves to take some turns.

It’s officially mud season, which means it’s time to get out of the mountains and head somewhere warm till the snow melts and the bike trails open up. We’ve got deserts, beaches, and rivers on our mind.
