A handy 21 miles from Boulder and 47 from Denver, Eldora has been a favorite with locals since it opened in 1962. You don't even have to drive to get there if you live or stay in Boulder-there's RTD daily bus service that drops you off at the lodge. But Eldora is a favorite for more reasons than its accessibility. There are a slew of family-friendly programs for all ages, starting with "Eldorables," for kids from age four to six, and ranging up to special women's programs and seminars. There's an affordable family season pass, too. Best of all there's terrain for the whole family, a great deal of which (all the stuff that can be groomed) is covered by snowmaking, on a manageable 680 acres and 1500 feet of vertical. Plus, the Eldora Nordic Center with 45 kilometers of ski and snowshoe trails is right at the main base area.
