Eldora Mountain Resort, based in Nederland, Colorado, was purchased by Powdr Corp. earlier this year. During the purchase Eldora had proposed an extensive list of improvements it deemed as critical to continue competing in the challenging landscape that is winter sports.
On Oct. 1 the U.S. Forest Service OK'd improvements within the resorts current boundaries. This week, in partnership with the US Forest Service, Eldora has made the decision to move forward with a trial year of uphill alpine touring. In previous years, uphill skiing within the resort has been prohibited.
Touring, unlike operations for alpine, snowboarding and nordic, will be offered on a modified agenda, to including mid-week access and special events. That means no uphill traffic will be allowed on weekends and holidays as well as the uphill traffic being limited to normal operation hours (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and specific uphill routes.
*All uphill alpine touring products do not include lift access within the alpine ski area and do not include cross country trail access in the Nordic Center.
