A thread on Tetongravity.com immediately began about Campbell’s pilfered skis, which happened to be Bro Models made by another forum member’s company, PM Gear. Then the manhunt was on. Here’s the shortened story as told with actual forum posts.
Wrinkled Pants: If this guy is found, I say we pull his fingernails out with pliers and burn “Thief” into his forehead. I’d bet …they’ll show up on Craigslist.
DarkStar: Are the skis still missing, supposedly in Steamboat? Because I was recently offered an unmounted pair of 192 Bros from some people that I know in town, and this was within the last week or so. I was given no information how they came across them, or what they look like or whatever, but this now sounds real suspicious to me.
Splat: That sounds like the pair. Is this for real? Cause I’ll fly out there just to put the pricks in jail, even if I have to make a citizen’s arrest, which I would thoroughly enjoy doing.
RaccoonFace: RELEASE THE HOUNDS!
DarkStar: The lynch mob mentality here is out of hand. The situation is fully under control. I just need to get in touch with Splat…now. I feel like they are the only ones that are going to resolve this situation (as in, where do these need to be shipped?).
bklyn: DarkStar = thief? DarkStar = friend of thief?
Splat: Speculations aside, all I know is DarkStar sacked up enough to call me and tell me the skis are available for pickup. I’ll add that this has been very nerve-racking for DarkStar. I can sense it in his voice. I thank him for intervening on behalf of the maggots*. Please don’t cast any blame his way. He stepped up. I’d also like to thank everyone for their generous offers to help and the overall maggot spirit that has once again proven to be indomitable.
*A “maggot” is a loyal forum member.
