Have you ever been in the middle of a multi-day ski tour wishing you had a little assistance? Maybe helicopter support to get to that next peak or valley? Then treat yourself and enter the CMH Heli-Skiing Contest.

One of CMH’s heli-skiing chalets, the Adamant Lodge in British Columbia’s Selkirk Mountains, averages 700 inches per season and will operate as the base lodge for the recipient of seven days of free heli-skiing. By submitting a video less than two minutes in length, one skier and guest will win a seven-day heli-skiing assisted tour guided by professional ski mountaineer, Greg Hill. The winner also gets head to toe Arc’teryx outerwear, a round-trip flight to Calgary, free transportation to the lodge, and two nights at the Delta Calgary Airport Hotel. Just create a YouTube video explaining why you love to ski tour. Entries are due on February 15, 2009, and the winner will be announced on February 28.

The Year of the Bum

As if one Canadian ski bum contest wasn’t enough, Sun Peaks ski resort in British Columbia announces the second ski-bumming contest for this winter.

Revelstoke, British Columbia, first developed as a transcontinental railroad boomtown in the late 1800s. It faded and became a sleepy logging town for the next 100 years. But last winter, Revelstoke Mountain Resort opened and the town's second boom officially hit. The master plan: develop the only ski resort in the world to offer lift, cat-, and heli-skiing right from the village, and over the next 15 years, develop lifts, a projected 10,000 acres of terrain, and the longest run in North America at 5,620 vertical feet.
