The first stop on this year's Freeskiing World Tour was held in La Parva, Chile, in September. Next up is Revelstoke, British Columbia, taking place January 6-10, followed by visits to Colorado's Telluride and Crested Butte in February, and Kirkwood, California, and Snowbird, Utah, in March. Registration for the first three stops opened today online at freeskiingworldtour.com and the other two open for registration tomorrow. For more about the schedule and new locations, click here.

We asked Adam Comey, the president of Mountain Sports International, the organization that runs the Freekiing World Tour about the kind of athletes who get their start on this tour. "The Freeskiing World Tour (FWT) is and has been a very successful and a powerful tool for athletes from around the world to break into the skiing mainstream and elevate the sport to new levels," Comey said. "We are extremely proud of our athletes, sponsors, and the resorts that host us each year and will continue to be the sport's and its athletes’ biggest fan. We are looking forward to the next 12 years of the FWT." Some big freeskiing stars who've made a name for themselves on the Freeskiing World Tour include Shane McConkey, Kent Kreitler, Chris Davenport, Seth Morrison, Dean Conway, Dean Cummings, Wendy Fisher, Kim Reichhelm, Alison Gannett, Ingrid Backstrom, Dana Flahr, Ian McIntosh, Hugo Harrison, Marja Persson, and many more.
