Aspen, CO, Jan. 10, 2001--Beginning Jan. 12, Aspen Highlands will open it's 30th annual Budweiser Freestyle Fridays competition. The event has brought some of the Rockies' best freestyle skiers to Aspen as part of Aspen's Wintersköl celebration.

The event consists of eight races over eight consecutive weekends. Each week, sixteen skiers will compete in a single elimination, side-by-side race through the bumps and jumps of Scarlett's Run. Nearly $1,500 in cash and prizes will be awarded each week and a special end-of-season bonus will be awarded to the top four competitors.

After each event, an Aprés Bump Party will be held at The Commonwealth Public House at the base of the Highlands. From 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., live music, prize giveaways, and Budweiser drink specials will highlight the post-race scene.

The events take place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 12. Feb. 9, 16, and 23, and Mar. 2, 9, 16, and 23. For more information or to register contact Nancy Scheinkman, event director, at 970-925-2030.
