Located in the natural ski-town of Wausau, centrally located in Wisconsin, accessible and economical from all over the Midwest, Granite Peak Ski area has become "King of the Mountain" in a few short years. As part of the legendary Rib Mountain wilderness area, Granite Peak boasts 275 skiable acres -- much of which is covered with gorgeous stands of sugar maple, red oak and pines, and some of the oldest outcropping and rock formations in the world. The ancient 700-foot mountain provides Granite Peak with the biggest vertical drop in both Wisconsin and the western Upper Peninsula. All the main facilities are located in close proximity to each other at the base of the mountain. Completely new buildings, and renovation of the Historic Chalet has maintained the elegance of existing structures, while new buildings have been added to complement and blend in with the rich history of the ski area.
