Toyota Prius

Thanks to increased consumer demand to rein in gas dollars, rental car companies are adding hybrids and other fuel-efficient cars to their fleets. Hertz and Avis announced the addition of 1,000 and 3,500 Toyota Priuses, respectively, at select airport locations by the start of 2008. Enterprise will have 4,500 Priuses available this year. Taking things a step further, Hertz's Green Collection, at 50 airports, features 50,000 cars that get at least 32 miles per gallon.

The bottom line: Save money - and the planet.
