Why Ski Boots are Sexy

Bode in Bronze

Behind the Scenes with Bode

He's back. After a bronze medal win in yesterday's Olympic downhill, Bode celebrated his victory with sushi and sake. Just a normal guy, right? Except, now he has the most Olympic medals of any American skier. Ever.

Say My Name: The Girl Behind the Goggles

For the past two seasons, Grete (Gret-a) Eliassen has travelled from Scandinavia to Argentina for her upcoming feature-length film. Shot fully in high-definition, the film explores what it's like to be an international ski superstar. Here are some photos from the project, and watch for the film when it drops this fall.

Errol Kerr relaxes before the start of a FIS skiercross race at Sugar Bowl February 2.I am standing at the second turn on Sugar Bowl’s skiercross course, a turn with a jump that had drawn a few four-letter words and their French equivalents from the skiers during training runs. A men’s quarterfinal heat whizzes by, with Jamaica’s Errol Kerr in the lead.Next to me, a teenage park rat yells, “That’s my lucky egg, mon!” a line from Cool Runnings, the 1993 movie about the Jamaican bobsled team that competed at the 1988 Olympics. The peanut gallery might still find the idea of a Jamaican ski team hilarious, but Kerr is all business as he prepares for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, which starts on Friday.“I want to be the best in the world by the time I’m done,” Kerr says. “Even skiing for Jamaica I’m not a shoo-in. There’s no golden ticket. I had to work hard to get to the Olympics.”

Jamaica’s One and Only Olympic Skier, Ready for Glory

Errol Kerr still laughs at jokes about lucky eggs, but he is all business when it comes to being the best in the world at skiercross. This week, he’s heading to Vancouver for his first visit to the Winter Olympic Games. By Olivia Dwyer

To make pure alcohol, start with a batch of raw ingredients. Distill it, and you’ll get a more refined batch. This is how we compiled this best-of-the-year photo gallery. We started with thousands of images. Gradually we selected the shots that illustrate skiing and photography in new and different ways, along with an explanation from each photographer. Please enjoy responsibly. Then we asked you, our readers, to vote for your favorite image. Introducing the Readers' Choice award for Best Photo of the Year.

Ski racer Lindsey Vonn wants what Julia Mancuso's already got: an Olympic gold. You can watch them go head to head during Wednesday's Olympic downhill in Whistler.
