Revelstoke, BC (Eagle Pass Press Release)—With record snow falls, world famous tree skiing and a stunning lodge accessed within two hours of Kelowna International Airport, Eagle Pass Heli-Skiing already offers quite an attractive ski holiday. Yet what makes this operation stand out from other heli-skiing operations is a new concept in backcountry skiing.
After six long years of effort from owners Andy Freeland, Dave Scott and Norman Winter, Eagle Pass Heli-Skiing received tenure last fall on over 1000 sq kms of land in the Monashee mountains. But where many ski operations offer either heli-skiing or ski-touring, EPH offers both. "By presenting a variety of heli-skiing and heli accessed ski-touring packages we feel we can appeal to a wide range of powder skiing enthusiasts. says Dave Scott.
From its base at Griffin Lake Mountain Lodge just west of Revelstoke, EPH runs only one ski package at a time with a maximum of twelve guests in the lodge, thus ensuring a private and more personable experience.
Adds Andy Freeland, "The design of our product, which involves skiing in small groups of four, allows the guide to custom-fit the day's program to the wants of the group. That may involve a group of retirement aged heli-ski veterans who prefer a slower pace, or it may be a more ambitious group who want to ski some first descents.
With over forty-five years of professional ski guiding and operational experience between them, Andy, Dave and Norm have a keen knowledge of the area. All certified guides, the three Revelstoke locals are excited to offer their guests the chance to see some remarkable country. When asked why he's so enthusiastic about Eagle Pass Heli-Skiing, Norm Winter replies, "I've been skiing now for over twenty years. The longest run I've ever skied was 1800 meters and that was in the Himalayas. We have a 2000 meter run right here at Eagle Pass. He adds, "I truly believe we have something special.
A true wilderness experience with comfortable amenities, Eagle Pass Heli-Skiing will commence its season starting January 2007.For more information on Eagle Pass Heli-Skiing, visit www.eaglepassheliskiing.com
