What’s next on the adventure bucket list of someone who has already ridden their bike from Sweden to Tanzania, traversed India by foot, and paddled across the Black Sea by canoe? Well, a roller-ski expedition across Australia, of course.

According to, Swedes Marcus Aspsjö and Jonathan Ljungqvist began their 4,000 km journey from Sydney to Perth entirely via roller skis in Febuary— all to raise money for charity. The team moved fast, clocking nearly 2,000 km by the beginning of April. They hope to finish the final leg of the excursion by June.

Accompanied by little more than their skis, poles, helmets, and basic travel essentials packed into child bike trailers, the two have been taken aback by the generosity of the locals during their cross-country expedition. “We just meet sooo many wonderful people who offered us cold drinks on the road, a meal, or a place for the night,” they said in a Facebook post. “We are just amazed how generous the Australian people are."

The pair is collecting money for Hand in Hand, a Swedish charity that fights against child labor in India, and have so far raised $9,700 of their $16,000 goal.

The Process

Skier and producer Jesse Hoffman takes us through his skiing process in the Elk Mountains in this beautifully crafted edit. Yep, this one raised our arm hair.
