Salomon FreeskiTV: Vuelo

Examining flight in South America.
Salomon FreeskiTV: Vuelo

In the latest episode of Salomon FreeskiTV, “Vuelo,” the team takes flight in the Chilean Andes. This edit knits the skiing of Alexi Godbout, Vincent Gagnier, and Leo Ahrens with dramatic South American landscapes and Chilean kite flying, to the mellow riffs of a flamenco guitar. It’s entrancing. It's a bit of a departure to the usual pace of FreeskiTV episode, but the artful approach brilliantly captures the cultural experience of skiing abroad, and how the local setting can inspire creativity in freeskiing. In fact, the cinematography and general ethos of “Vuelo” has me thinking this short picture wasn’t just about skiing at all.

Portillo Unchanged

Welcome to Portillo, Chile, where gringos trade flip-flops for ski boots, racers and freeriders mingle, and pisco flows like carménère. The vibe is unabashedly old-school, and Portillo’s diehards wouldn’t have it any other way.
