Sunday, March 15th will be a day for the groms at Schweitzer Mountain Resort as the Stomping Grounds Terrain Park hosts its first ever Grom Stomp Games - A version of Stomp Games designed for skiers and riders under age 12.
“The Grom Stomp is the result of more demand by smaller riders,” said Events and Activities director Mary Weber-Quinn. “The Stomp Games venue is huge and is not the appropriate size for younger riders. The groms want to play so we’re setting up a course just for them.”
The competition includes a slopestyle and rider X and grommets can register for either or both. The event will close with awards and division winners. The “top grom” skier and snowboarder will be awarded a new snowboard and skis and an invitation to participate in the Stomp Games slopestyle and rail jam.
Stomp Games will take place the following week, March 20-22. This event is open to all riders, ages 12 and over (and the “top groms”) and includes a rail jam, amateur slopestyle and rider X, and pro slopestyle and rider X. Awards will conclude each day in the village, and a Prize purse is guaranteed at $10,000 disbursed (within pro divisions only).
All competitors in both Grom Stomp and Stomp Games must have a lift ticket, helmet and a signed release form if under 18. Space is limited and registration closes March 19th at 5PM. On site registration will be available if space permits on Friday afternoon from 3-5PM and Saturday and Sunday morning from 7-9AM.
