Skiing/Riding Season Continues at Blackcomb Through July

June 3, 2006

Whistler, BC. (Blackcomb Press Release)—After an amazing winter season at Whistler Blackcomb the show will go on this summer with glacier skiing and riding. Beautiful weather is here and Ullr has left a pile of snow that will put this summer's glacier skiing and riding on track to be one of the best in years. Glacier skiing and riding on Blackcomb Mountain's Horstman Glacier begins June 5 through to the end of July.

"We've got lots of snow to create incredible camp terrain features this summer, says Stu Osborne, Whistler Blackcomb Parks & Glacier Operations Supervisor. "There is lots of snow on the glacier to build a large variety of features and to bring back the public half pipe.

Starting on June 5, and continuing through to the end of July, the summer glacier operation entices the best pro skiers and riders to coach and train with summer camps like Momentum, Camp of Champions and High North Ski Camp. Each camp caters to all ages and skill levels and teaching the latest tricks and techniques to the willing. Every year the camps get better with more innovative terrain and every year the big names show up to coach and impress.

The Horstman Hut at the top of the 7th Heaven chair is open daily for lunch or snacks. While enjoying the view from the patio, top it off with a BBQ at 7,400 feet. "The Horstman Hut Patio is the best place to be in the summer. The view, the sun, the BBQ's and of course the skiing are all part of the great atmosphere on Blackcomb, continues Osborne. "Many guests come up for the sightseeing, to eat lunch in the high alpine or to check out the glacier action — it's a great experience.

Enjoy great summer snow and the unmatchable vibe created by the people who work and play at Whistler Blackcomb. The Glacier has a lot to offer from great skiing and riding to breathtaking views of the Coastal Mountains. The chance of spotting wildlife, such as deer or bears, on the trip up also adds to this already one-of-a-kind experience.

With one of North America's longest ski seasons, significant snowfall all winter in 05/06, and a chance to watch all pro skiers and riders throw down, the glacier is certain to be sick this summer. For more information, summer deals and hotel rates starting at $75, or general inquiries check out
