TELLURIDE, Colo.

– The Telluride-Montrose Regional Air Organization (TMRAO) is thrilled to announce that United and Delta Airlines will begin new or expanded service this winter season to/from Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta to the Montrose Airport. A new daily flight from Chicago is being offered on United Airlines, and an additional Wednesday flight from Los Angeles on United and an additional Wednesday flight from Atlanta on Delta top off the 08/09 winter season flight additions. This winter’s total number of air seats to Telluride/Montrose maintains pace with last year’s record number, even with a slightly shorter winter flying season.

Montrose airport now has non-stop service from Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Denver, and Salt Lake City on a daily basis, and Los Angeles, Newark and Atlanta(2x) on Saturday, plus the addition of Los Angeles and Atlanta on Wednesdays. Telluride airport continues daily non-stop service from Phoenix on US Airways and Denver on Great Lakes Aviation, a United affiliate.

“The enhancement of our exceptional air service will truly benefit our guests, as many connecting domestic and international visitors will have easier access into the Telluride and Montrose Airports,” said Scott Stewart of TMRAO. “While many leisure destinations are seeing a sizeable decrease in available seats year over year beginning this fall and winter, Telluride is expanding markets and maintaining service levels.”

The new daily Chicago Service will be operated by a United CRJ 700 Regional Jet with 66 seats and a first class cabin.

“The addition of this new service elevates Telluride to the top few best served destination mountain resorts in North America, offering our skiers unmatched ease of access,” said Telluride Ski Resort CEO Dave Riley.

“We’re very excited to be offering new service into the Telluride area,” stated Tom Hess, President of the Telluride Montrose Regional Air Organization (TMRAO). “Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta are top visitor markets for the Montrose/Telluride area, and new service also enhances our competitive positioning.”

TMRAO’s mission is to stimulate economic development through air service development, working hand-in-hand with local governments, businesses and interest groups.
