Arapahoe Basin Opens for the Season

After only being closed for just 100 days Arapahoe Basin opened up for the season. We braved the white ribbon of death.

This sign is posted at the base area to comfort cowering beginners who stare two black diamonds in the face as they load the chair. It's incredibly cliche, but every time I see it I chuckle.

Taos Ski Valley - Opening Day 2009-2010 Season

The Earliest Opening Date in History

You've likely heard the snowfall reports from around the country. Wyoming, Utah, Washington, California, and Colorado have all boasted early season dustings. But if you live in Colorado, the season officially starts tomorrow with Loveland opening at 9 a.m., beating out its rival Arapahoe Basin by a mere two days.

Ski Resorts Still Open

You still have a shot to get some end-of-season turns in.

Loveland Ski Area was the first resort to open in Colorado, and the first to stay open continuously for the season.  The snowboarders who got first chair showed up at midnight and started waiting in line before 5 a.m.Check out video from opening day.

Opening Weekend 2010-11

Ski season is officially on. Loveland and Arapahoe Basin are open full time and Sunday River is open on weekends. Check out photos and video from opening weekend.
