If a more quintessential après joint exists, we have yet to find it. The Matterhorn’s bar top is made of vintage skis. Ski films loop incessantly on multiple screens. Ski memorabilia from every era clutters the walls. A wood-fired pizza oven grills custom pies, like the Monte Rosa—a mouthwatering mash-up of pepperoni, mushrooms, ground beef, marinara, three cheeses, and crushed red pepper. Pair it with a Ski Bar Beer, add a game of darts, and you’ll have achieved après nirvana. Located at the base of Sunday River’s access road. [matterhornskibar .com]
