– LAAX, Orage and Swatch are proud to announce, the Orage European Freeski Open by Swatch 2009, taking place from March 17 to 21, 2009. Back again for its fourth year, Europe’s premier event of the season offers a grand prize purse of $50,000usd. Featuring both slopestyle and halfpipe competitions, the European Open gives local and amateur riders the chance to compete with some of the best pros in the sport and will award equal prize money to male and female riders.

Crap Sogn Gion Mountain, home of Europe’s only on‐hill / in‐dirt Superpipe, and one of Europe’s most famed slopestyle courses call forth former winners of the European Open and some of the best talent from around the globe. Canada’s halfpipe specialists Sarah Burke and Mike Riddle, Justin Dorey, Marie Martinod from France, US wonder boy Simon Dumont, Norwegians PK Hunder and Grete Eliassen, Jossi Wells/NZE and Russell Henshaw/AUS from Down Under, and the unbeatable queen of the LAAX slopestyle contest, three time winner Virginie Faivre of Switzerland have at one time, all risen to the challenge.

Freeskiing World Tour Open for Registration

Every winter, hundreds of big-mountain athletes vie for spots on the Freeskiing World Tour, a competition circuit hosted by the International Freeskiers Association. Online registration opens today and tomorrow for this year's stops in Revelstoke, Telluride, Crested Butte, Kirkwood, and Snowbird.

American Keri Herman won a silver at the Winter X Games in Aspen earlier this year, and today, she earned another silver in slopestyle, thanks to her second run, which included a 540 true tail grab.

European X Games

The European X Games finished up today in Tignes, France, with the women's ski slopestyle and halfpipe and the men's ski slopestyle. North American athletes represented on the podium with Canadian and U.S. skiers winning all three of today's events. Here are photos from the day.

Salomon Back Yard Band This Weekend at Tremblant
