The Summit at Snoqualmie: 50 minutes; 50 miles / Yeah, it looks like a wasteland of green runs from I-90, but tucked a little ways off the highway is Alpental, with its steep, classic International run, plus serious backcountry with an easy return traverse right back to the lift.

Stevens Pass: 1 hour, 30 minutes; 82 miles / Stuck in the drear of the Emerald City, most Seattleites don’t realize all that rain falls as 450 annual inches a short drive out of town. Stevens will keep hardcores entertained with lots of steep tree skiing—especially in the glades off the 7th Heaven lift.
