- The TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival has announced an incredible line-up for the 2nd annual Urban Rail Session that has already become a fan favorite with 7,000 in attendance last year. 10 pro riders and skiers step away from the mountain and into an urban setting to battle it out for $10,000 cash. Expect the pros to be keen to conquer the same challenging rail as last year, with an energized crowd letting loose to the fire spinners, break-dancers and DJ beats. It all kicks off at 9 pm on Friday April 15 in Skiers Plaza.
"At first I was terrified of the rail, but the incentive was definitely Justin Timberlake who was presenting the award," said Sarah Burke, defending Urban Rail Session champion. "It was a blast and I'm ready to get it done again."
The format gives everyone 2 hits to start, followed by a 20-minute jam session for all 20 competitors. Female champions from within the field will be determined from the initial 2 runs as well as the jam session. From the men's field, the top 2 riders and skiers will advance to a 2 hit head-to-head final to determine the victor - winner takes home the cash. The line-up is as follows:
