Skiing intern Mallory Ayres catches some air.

We are looking for motivated, creative, and self-directed college and grad-school students to join our editorial team in Boulder, Colorado. Our internships offer budding reporters and editors a glimpse into the inner workings of niche consumer magazines and their digital components. Interns will help the editorial staff produce content for skiingmag.com and assist with print elements.

Duties: Interns become an integral part of our small and close-knit staff. Their duties include but are not limited to fact-checking, researching, reporting, writing, proofreading and editing articles; calling in products and gear for testing; participating in staff editorial meetings; developing multimedia packages for the web and brainstorming story ideas for all platforms. They'll be involved in the process of assigning stories to contributors, and they'll learn how the edit and art departments work together to formulate the layout and design of written and multi-media content. We keep grunt work (shipping, filing, etc) to a minimum.

Qualifications: Interns should be dedicated, hard-working, conscientious, and fun-loving, with a career interest in writing and editing. Previous journalism experience—either with local publications or your student newspaper—is preferred. A passion for skiing and mountain culture is a must. Internships are unpaid and you must be earning school credit, though paid internships may be available under certain circumstances. Please email resume, cover letter, and writing samples to gavin@skiingmag.com. Please indicate in the subject line that you are applying for an editorial internship.

Want Avy Reports on the Lift? There’s an App for That.

You probably own an iPhone. And we’re fine with that, really. Next time we’re on the lift together, we can pull up YouTube and watch a cat with its head stuck in a Pringles can. Or we could use these ski-specific apps. Including a brand new one from The North Face.
