OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif.

– With filmmaking legend Warren Miller as the master of ceremonies, a bevy of local Olympians and local high-profile athletes participating in a dynamic fashion show, gourmet food, a live auction offering world-class getaways, along with representation from many of Lake Tahoe’s top winter resorts, "A Toast to Tahoe Skiing" serves as Lake Tahoe’s ultimate winter kickoff gala.

A fundraiser for Squaw Valley Institute, a nonprofit organization that brings events of cultural and educational significance to the Lake Tahoe region, the gala takes place on Saturday, November 15 in the Grand Sierra Ballroom at AAA Four-Diamond Resort at Squaw Creek, which is situated at the base of Squaw Valley USA. Beginning with a reception at 6:00 PM, the event ensues with a variety of culinary creations presented buffet-style, live auction, and a dynamic fashion show with the likes of Tamara McKinney, Olympic silver medalist Shannon Bahrke, and Warren Miller film stars Eric DesLauriers and Cody Townsend, among many others.

“We expect this evening to bring together Tahoe’s ‘who’s-who’ and true skiers and boarders from all around,” said John Wilcox, president of the Squaw Valley Institute. “Lake Tahoe has a rich history in the winter sports world, and with Warren Miller at the helm for the gala, we’re sure attendees will be in for a memorable experience. Even for those who don’t slide on the snow will enjoy the food, fashion and fun.”

A free after-event party will take place in Resort at Squaw Creek’s Sandy’s Pub from 10 PM - 1 AM, featuring Warren Miller movies and food and drink specials.

Tickets for the gala are $85 per person. A few VIP tables remain at $1,200 per table, which offer seating for 10 with prime access to the fashion show runway. For ticket and VIP table information please visit
