Born in New York City, Michael Futterman first came to Colorado in 1986 as a student in an Outward Bound mountaineering course. The seeds that were planted on that trip took root and led to him earning his bachelor’s degree in Recreation from Ithaca College. A year skiing and biking in the Vail Valley, a summer working outdoor experiential education camps, running trips to the Florida Keys and Rocky Mountain National Park, and then multiple years as a field instructor for the NYC Outward Bound school gave him ample opportunities to further his skills in a variety of environments. Mike is an avid mountain and gravel biker, backpacker, telemark and backcountry skier. In 2014 he jumped at the chance to relocate to Boulder where he continues to accumulate gear in the search for pieces that work and are durable.
