It’s official: Aspen Snowmass has entered the ski manufacturing business. Earlier this season, SKI Magazine was given a sneak peek of the Après Skis, a brand-new ski designed and produced by Aspen Snowmass.
No doubt hoping for rave reviews and sensing our skepticism about these skis, Aspen Snowmass went really all out, putting me up in The Little Nell, the five-star, five-diamond hotel right at the base of Aspen Mountain. After getting settled in my room, I met up with the party at The Wine Bar, a posh après-ski venue where style is everything.
The Après Skis are specifically designed and engineered for this type of venue. Made from state-of-the-art materials that have been expertly shaped and pressed, the Après Skis are both sophisticated and extraordinarily simple. When you first see it, you can’t help but think, Why didn’t anyone think of this sooner? and My gosh, how can anything be so beautiful and perfect?!
What makes the Après Skis so unique? Well, according to Aspen Snowmass, it’s “finely crafted using the highest-grade epoxy resins, delicately dusted with powder from Highland Bowl, soaked in champagne at Cloud 9, and elegantly finished with a triple-coated top sheet, creating the ultimate microwave shine.”
Available in a unisex flat model and a high-heeled version for women, the new Après Skis don’t just look good—they perform flawlessly. I was comfortable with a lush burgundy at The Little Nell, a poolside mojito at the Limelight, and malt liquor in a paper bag in the Buttermilk Park and Ride. Get ready to add the world’s first Après Skis to your quiver.
After breaking in the Après Skis with extensive sessions of putting out the vibe across Aspen’s hottest bars, I can say that I’ll never go to après without the Après Skis again. I was so popular everywhere I went. People couldn’t stop asking me, “Why are you wearing snowblades indoors?” Others made comments like, “Sir, you can’t wear those in the hotel, you need to check them into a ski locker,” and “Bag your toes, man. Your bare feet are gross.” It’s safe to say these babies make a strong impression. I finally feel like a real local!
Aspen Snowmass’ Après Skis is only available on April 1, 2021. In addition to the video embedded above, be sure to watch this video about how to get a pair for yourself.
