Drool-Worthy Photos From This Week’s 30″ Storm at Taos

I’ve been skiing and photographing Taos, New Mexico for the better part of twenty years. I had my first adventure date with my wife there back in 2004 and celebrated my 40th birthday there too. The unrivaled terrain, beautiful light, and wonderful people make every trip special, and this one was no different.I was finishing up a week of shooting with my longtime ski partners Amie Engerbretson and Sven Brunso when a juicy-looking forecast suddenly changed our plans. Plane tickets were canceled and work meetings postponed. The storm was an over-achiever and the mountain went bottomless overnight. The storm continued to deliver and refill. Following are just a few frames of the incredible deepness we captured in this magical place at the end of the Rockies.

It’s hard to believe their trip in Taos started warm, sunny, and dry. As Sven Brunso finds out, it can change real fast in the southern Rockies. Photo: Liam Doran
