2022 Armada Declivity 92 Ti

With the narrowest waist in the All-Mountain Category, the Armada Declivity 92 Ti was judged as the quickest, most maneuverable ski of the day by the SKI Test crew. And, as an acknowledgment to the brand’s new-school roots, testers also gave the ski high marks in both Playfulness and Forgiveness, two traits that were in short supply for the other top five skis in the category.

Despite the skinny waist, the shovel and tail of the Declivity 92 Ti are only a few millimeters narrower than the ski’s big brother, the Declivity 102 Ti. These robust measurements in the tips and tail provide the ski with true all-mountain capabilities, just with a sharper turn radius that testers appreciated when the terrain warrants variable turn shapes. “Smooth-alicious on groomers and good off-piste,” comments tester Todd Casey. “Fun, stout, and responsive,” echoes tester Luke Larsen. “A great ski for all-mountain high speed turns.”

Armada builds the Declivity 92 Ti with a lightweight caruba wood core sandwiched between two sheets of Titanal. The shovel of the ski has what the brand calls “Articulated Titanal Banding,” which are rubber-like compounds inserted into the metal that provide damping characteristics as well as playfulness when exiting the turn. The overall result, according to testers, is a great time. “Light to the touch and solid underfoot, these skis are packed with energy, punch, and play,” notes veteran tester Bob Gleason. “They are dynamically quick in the moguls and tight spots.”

  • Strengths: Quickness/Maneuverability (1st in category), Playfulness (2nd)
  • Weaknesses: Flotation (15th), Crud-Performance (9th)

The Declivity 92 Ti opens the door to a whole new world for Armada. With a caruba wood core, two sheets of Titanal, and an elastic compound layer in the shovel, the new Declivity 92 Ti holds an edge at speed as well as every ski on this page, but still maintains a fun-loving attitude. Testers found the lively 92 Ti to be extremely versatile and fun, but stable, damp, and sharp when needed. Loomans: “Very well-balanced stability and energy, was definitely able to create energy coming out of a turn. Easy to maneuver and change turn shape, just a really fun ski.”

STRENGTH: Hard-Snow Integrity, Stability at Speed

WEAKNESS: Flotation, Crud Performance
