2022 ROSSIGNOL EXPERIENCE 86 TI

There is a lot of technology packed into Rossignol’s all-new Experience line. The flagship ski of the group, the Experience 86 TI, has a lot of ingredients: Two sheets of Titanal, a full basalt wrap, PEFC-certified poplar wood core, and the brand new Drive Tip, which is a shovel made from directional carbon fibers and a soft visco damping material.

If you tried to make a cake with these ingredients, it would probably be inedible, but since the brand made a ski with them, the results turned out very good for Rossignol. “Well improved over its predecessor,” commented veteran tester Bob Gleason. “The Experience has a variety of tools in its belt. They will hammer out short, medium, or long turns, and inspire strong lines on the front faces.”

With the top score in Forgiveness, this Rossi is suited for all abilities of skiers because it won’t punish mistakes. It’s also easy to get on edge and carve at nearly any speed. But the Experience 86 Ti’s ideal skier isn’t afraid to go fast, especially on corduroy and smooth, wide-open terrain.

The Experience 86 TI does need a capable pilot when the going gets rough, however, as all that forgiveness can get bucked around in crud. “Very stable, very smooth,” comments tester Nick Loomans. “A great frontside ski for intermediate to advanced skiers, but can be enjoyed by all.”

  • Strengths: Forgiveness (1st in category), Quickness/Maneuverability (2nd)
  • Weaknesses: Flotation (17th), Crud Performance (9th)
