The Dynastar M-Free 108 returns unchanged for 2021-’22. Testers at Solitude Mountain Resort felt that the ski improved relative to the rest of the field, as it moved up two spots compared to last season’s results. Testers also noted the reliable damp performance as a key trait. “Damp, but also versatile. Great skis for almost anyone!” exclaims tester Mark Syrovatka.
Dynastar combines a specially formulated polyurethane with poplar in the core of the M-Free 108. Built with full sandwich sidewalls and a fiberglass torsion box, the ski’s construction provides a snappy maneuverability. Combined with rocker in the tip and tail and a well-engineered effective edge, the Dynastar M-Free 108 is a notably versatile ski with a capable waist width for powder seekers across North America. “The ultimate all-mountain ski for the West,” notes tester Luke Larsen. “Fun and playful but plenty stiff when you get into trouble and the ski just needs to run.”
While the majority of testers at Solitude noted the ski’s powerful prowess, some of the more finesse-oriented skiers found it somewhat one-dimensional both on and off the groomed trails. Skiers with freeride roots and/or strong legs, however, found it to be one of the best skis in the category for their styles. “Powerful when needed, playful when wanted,” comments tester Otto Gibbons. “The ski can track through cut up snow easily and can lay the first tracks in fresh just as well. If you’re comfortable driving a ski, you have limitless potential with this ski.
- Strengths: Quickness/Maneuverability (4th in category), Balance of Skills/Versatility (5th)
- Weaknesses: Forgiveness (12th), Hard-Snow Integrity (12th)

Dynastar M-Free 108 – 2021 All-Mountain Wide Ski Review

The all-new M Free 108 falls more in the freeride-specific camp of the category. Made with poplar wood and integrated PU material in the core, this Dynastar shines brightly on soft snow and day-old chop. It was out-gunned by other skis in this category on hard snow, however, where it lacked damp edge-to-edge energy. Still, it’s a solid new option for fans of freeride terrain and going big beyond the gates.
STRENGTHS: Flotation, Versatility
WEAKNESSES: Hard-Snow Integrity, Crud Performance
