Can there be such a thing as the perfect shovel early rise? Testers definitely felt that way about the front of the Dynastar M-Pro 90. The perfectly placed lift created a turn initiation that was described as “lightning-bolt quick,” “silky smooth,” “top tier,” and “comfortable.” These adjectives complemented what quite a few testers described as a “beautiful ski.” “I really love the early rise, it engages the tip very easily so you can pull a lot of turn radius,” notes tester Mark Syrovatka. “A beautiful ski.”
A hybrid poplar and polyurethane core combined with full sandwich sidewalls and Titanal layers that taper off towards the tip and tail complement the ski’s beloved shape. The result is a very easy-going, forgiving ski that lets the user set the tone for the turn, rather than have the ski demand perfection in performance and technique. This goes for the groomers as well as moguls, choppy snow, and nearly everywhere else. “Very well rounded, easy to ski, and very solid in all conditions,” gushes tester Nick Loomans. “A large audience, from advanced skiers to former racers, could ski and enjoy.”
While a few testers pigeonholed the Dynastar M-Pro 90 as an “East Coast one-ski quiver,” skiers further west shouldn’t write this one off by any means thanks to a high level of versatility all over the mountain at Solitude Mountain Resort. That perfect early rise can hold its own when the going gets soft, too. “Lots of rebound and push out of this ski,” comments tester Luke Larsen. “Fun to lay it over but amazingly responsive in crud and bumps.”
- Strengths: Forgiveness (3rd in category), Balance of Skills/Versatility (5th)
- Weaknesses: Flotation (6th), Stability at Speed (9th)

With a subtle topsheet graphic and a lightweight poplar and PU core reinforced with strategically placed Titanal, the all-new M Pro 90 was fairly unassuming until testers got it going. Then it nearly knocked quite a few socks off with its refined maneuverability and ample chargeability on steeps, bumps, and beyond. This isn’t your dad’s Dynastar; it can handle different turn shapes and unique skier styles with fluid ease.
