2022 Elan Wildcat 82 C

Cut from the same cloth as her Wildcat sisters but with a lighter core construction, the Elan Wildcat 82 C is more approachable to beginners and intermediates without throwing on-snow performance out the window.

Testers called out the Wildcat 82 C’s performance in crud above all else, saying its slightly wider waist width offers a steady platform when the going gets tough. We can also thank the ski’s carbon and laminated wood core construction for that, which dampens the ride over rough terrain while still offering plenty of pop and pizazz in and out of turns.

Testers appreciated this mix of energy and stability and agreed that the Elan Wildcat 82 C would make a great all-mountain tool for beginners and intermediates because of it. They do caution that anyone trying to test this ski’s speed limit might be disappointed—this Wildcat can’t hang with her more race-inspired Wildcat sisters. But even this Wildcat knows how to carve up the groomed and smear short-radius turns through bumps and trees.

“This ski is snappy and playful,” comments tester Courtney Harkins. “It’s easily overpowered, but if you abide by its speed limit, it’s a great, simple ride.”

Despite its versatile waist width and ability to tackle crud, testers noted the Elan Wildcat 82 C definitely prefers groomed runs versus off-piste terrain, and intermediate skiers over aggressive skiers.

“Of the lighter/narrower skis in this category, I actually liked how this skied but it wasn’t terribly versatile,” says tester Marina Knight. “That said, it’s smooth and stable enough to offer reliability to an intermediate skier looking to step up in their skiing.”

  • Value Score: 6.47/10
  • Strengths: Quickness (3rd in category), Crud Performance (1st)
  • Weaknesses: Versatility (3rd), Stability at Speed (2nd)
