2022 Faction Dictator 2.0

For a ski with two full sheets of Titanal and a full poplar wood core, it was a surprise for some testers how forgiving the Faction Dictator 2.0 was. Yes, these skis can hold a carve and have just enough spunk to stay lively for lighter skiers, but all this character comes without punishing mistakes like other skis with metal are prone to do. “Makes rounder and smoother turns,” says tester Todd Casey. “Response well to even-centered pressure and rewards with a nice soft snow experience.”

Forgiveness can be a double-edged sword, however, and testers who couldn’t unleash the sweet spot of the Faction Dictator 2.0 thought they were a little uninspiring and lacked playful energy compared to other skis in the category. This was most evident when driving them on hard snow at a fast pace in particular. “Strong performer in bumps and crud,” notes tester Drew Crosby. “Decent energy on groomers.”

Looking elegant in all-black, the Faction Dictator 2.0 might seem like a super-strong ski on paper, but the performance is actually more on-point for intermediate and advanced skiers who prefer to explore the entire mountain and don’t want a ski that talks back. Add in an attractive price point, and chances are high this ski should be more visible at your local ski hill this season. “These give back what you put into them,” comments Bob Gleason. “They offer a solid blend of performance traits and will not disappoint.”

  • Strengths: Quickness/Maneuverability (9th in category), Forgiveness (8th)
  • Weaknesses: Hard Snow Integrity (15th), Stability at Speed (16th)
