Head does its best work in the top-shelf Raptor series. The race-ready 140 RS, a near-unanimous favorite, is as close to a pure plug boot as it gets, with a super-snug 96-mm width for instant response and brick-like 140 flex for power at speed. But the fit is sculpted, so a narrow-footed guy won’t need to spend hours with a bootfitter. The cool-looking Spineflex buckles were controversial, but the extra-beefy elastic Booster Strap was a big hit. “Very impressive skiability,” Walzer said. “Sensitive, quick, solid, precise.”
